It was the greatest decision ever to take this super short vacation to the hot Southern region to feel what a true summer feels like. Green hills, sunny blue skies and lavender fields--perfection!
One of the days we decided to drive to Sault (it wasn't a spur of the moment decision, but a carefully planned move since I like to pre-plan most sights we ought to see and then go with the flow). Our drive to Sault was supposed to be around 40 minutes, but of course windy roads, beautiful stop overs and our search for beautiful lavender fields added to our travel time.
To find the fields, you didn't have to drive a long distance, but I had read on travel forums a lot about some of the most perfect picture perfect fields that we had to visit.
And once you find these beautiful fields, you just want to take it all in.
Pictures don't do these views justice. Especially not cheesy ones like this one below:)
Katya was experimenting with her picture angles.
Lots of these pictures don't require any captions.
The fields were stunning. We just didn't know how to capture that beauty properly!
And it was lunch time once again. So we drove to a random tiny village.
Why does it feel so different to eat your Croque Monseiur (basically a delicious grilled cheese sandwich) in France than at home?:)
Let's wonder around these streets. But can we imagine living here? What would it be like to live in a serene place like this?
A place with an old war tower in the middle of it.
We were not done in our lavender hunt. There was more to come! Even more beautiful than the first set of fields.
This one was my favorite!
Stunning! Everything I imagined it would be and more.
And just a few more pictures of surrounding beauty in this sunny place.
Can you imagine waking up to a view like that.
On the way back to Roussillon we could see these awesome cliffs clearly (not the colored ones but the regular ones;)).
We got home on time for kids to spend some time in the pool. We were still amazed it was hot enough to not be shivering after playing in the water.
Lyana.
