Alex has enjoyed being part of the Brampton school choir for the past three years. It has been amazing and fun for him! I have been helping with piano accompaniment on Thursday mornings for choir practices for the last two years, so I have been able to see the kids work at songs and have a great time.
Each year they learn a new set of songs, usually united by a theme. They also learn several songs in addition to that. This summer, the kids learned a Mamma Mia medley, with the live band accompanying them! The live band was made up of parents volunteers and our own Mr. Allen, the headteacher. Sometime in July we got a chance to hear the choir and the band and a few other musical numbers that the kids have prepared for us.
Alex even got a solo for part of the song:) And he was so fun to listen to!
Alex also performed his "Unstoppable" arrangement.
Mark was fortunate enough to impress Mrs. Crozier so much earlier this school year that she let him join orchestra as a Year 2 student, while normally only Year 3 and up can participate. She knew he was so eager to participate and that he would be moving during summer and not get a chance to be part of orchestra, so she let him. And we are very grateful.
Mrs. Crozier is an amazing music director! I don't know if I have mentioned it before, but she was also awarded "The Best Music Teacher Of The Year" award in London in 2014! She let the kids blossom and develop their talents and always found so many opportunities for them to perform (like at our village Brampton church on a Sunday afternoon). Unfortunately, the only picture I have of her with Alex, but it should do.
She also thinks Alex is a natural performer:) And she cannot wait to see where he goes in life.
But we can wait:) Just trying to enjoy all his song medleys now and let him explore the world of singing and piano playing:)
Lyana.
