Alex has discovered a new passion for piano lately. He has been grudgingly practicing the piano for Mrs. Eldred in the past year or so and it was really hard to get him to even sit down at the piano to work on his skills. But then he decided he would learn how to play a modern pop song or two on the piano by watching videos on youtube that show chords. And thus this new hobby began.
Although our piano had already been packed out, the Woods family let us borrow their keyboard, so that Mark and Alex could continue to practice their piano. It was very frustrating, especially for Mark, to play the keyboard because he was so used to the piano. So our other friends, the Ross family, let us come to their house and practice the piano there...
So one Sunday afternoon, Alex went to their house (while they were on vacation:)) and spent some time learning one of his first songs--Sia's "Unstoppable".
He has found his element:) It's so fun to watch him. And I am amazed at how easily he picks up the chord sequence from just watching the video a couple of times. He does like to improvise too, so his latest pieces have a lot more elaboration on the original version.
But here is one of his first songs:
I hope Alex keeps it up. Well, some days I hope he doesn't play the piano at all as we have no door (again!) on our piano room and all I want is some peace and quietness:) But we all know that some sacrifices have to be made in that respect.
Can't wait to see what he does in the future.
Lyana.
