We love visiting beaches! No matter how cold;))
This is a very unique beach near Vik. It is black sanded beach.
There are many warnings about the dangerous rip currents and sneaky waves.
And here are the stacks. The legend about these cliffs/stacks is quite interesting. It involves trolls in the middle of the night, dragging a three mast ship and then...daylight came and they had to abandon it and we have three stacks now left here. You can see just two?
And sandy writing tradition continues. Except we forgot to teach Mark how to spell Iceland so he wrote "Icland".
Let's sit back and enjoy this beautiful view.
Timer family picture!
Another attempt.
And that's us still on a timer.
Yep, just goofing around.
So these basalt rocks are like the ones in Northern Ireland's (Giant Causeway).
In fact the reason why the sand on the beaches here is so black is because of the basalt rocks all along the shore.
And more jumping pictures.
Miraculously, no one got wet (here).
Yeah... May 2nd and I am wearing my winter coat. Because I am always cold.
Mark and his castle.
And THIS is exactly what I imagined an Icelandic church to look like:) So beautiful but simple.
We kept talking about how lucky we were with the weather as the winds were minimal and the sun was shining brightly. It was beautiful!
And we drove towards Vik.
Lyana.
