Summer School Break Is Here!

I had all the wonderful intentions to take more candid pictures of our everyday lives during the summer....but I guess I am not as much into picture taking as I should be as I got through the first two weeks and then my goal kind of faded away.

So with that said, here is a random collection of pictures from the first days of our kids' summer break!

This year Alex again participated in our Apex Breakers summer swim team! But this time, he also volunteered as an assistant coach. He was such a good helper and the little kids loved him! He absolutely loves being on the summer swim team as it's more of a social commitment to him than a competitive one.

The kids ate food. All the time... As you can see we have a variety of random objects on our counter such as a dusting cloth and floss as well as taco salad ingredients;). Lunches during summer days are way easier than school lunches as we can actually have a greater variety of food to eat that doesn't need to be stored in a lunchbox.

We went to the library. As usual, Alex came out with at least twenty books, but Mark got five.

Oh yes, we celebrated Father's Day! Robert had a fantastic day with the kids!

Mark went to his tennis friend's birthday party where pretty much all they did was play sports games and ping pong. As usual.

Alex and Mark went to the pool together on their own!! That's a first, and such a relief as I actually got a bit of a break from the boys at home.

As Katya started working at the dental office this summer (just a couple of days a week), I got to hang out with these more often. They are smiling here, but usually they don't love going many places...unless it's to hang out with friends/play tennis.

Oh, and Mark has been waiting for this day for months! After his big tournament in SC, he was ready to transition to an adult size tennis racket, which is a huge deal for these little guys. He is still ten years old, so the racket has to be extremely light so that he doesn't injure his wrist. We had to go to Bryan's tennis shop to check out some rackets to take home and try out for a couple of weeks. It's interesting that it's not like you just pick up a racket and see how it hits the ball and you figure out if you like it...there is much more to it and they have to take time to get used to it. At the end of his trial period, he decided on a Babolat Aero kind of racket (almost $200 a piece, and, of course, he needed two rackets). The day that we bought the rackets, had them strung, bought new tennis shoes (his shoes usually have to be replaced every 2-4 months) and paid for some lessons, went down in our family history as the most expensive Tennis Day ever!:) But seriously, it was a big deal for Mark (and us) and Mark was beaming ear to ear for the rest of the week.

Okie, dokie, that is all for now. We, obviously, had many more awesome things happen during summer, but this is just a record of how our regular days were going:)

 Lyana.
