Every year our base organizes camps during summer through our Youth Center. We try to take advantage of them since my kids love all sorts of organized group activities, it is summer and they have lots of free time, as well as the price usually is very good. So for one week in July, Alex and Mark did a soccer camp—a couple of hours each day. They both loved it.
Later on, from August 15 till August 22nd, all THREE kids participated in Stage Works Theater Company camp that prepared and performed “Alladin” musical. I was a bit worried about Mark—the hours were very long 9-5 every day…The first day was especially hard because there was a lot of “auditioning” and deciding whose role is what. After all, Katya got to play Jasmin, Alex got to play “sultan”, her father, and Mark was assigned to be a guard (with two lines “Yeah! Stupid!” and something else of that sort which he loved saying since that is technically a bad word in our house).
All week the kids worked really-really hard—memorizing lines, practicing songs, dances. I mean, this was the real deal! Finally, on Friday (on Robert’s birthday) was the opening night (the first of the two shows that is). We were so excited!

Here are a few pictures. I had to do a lot of cropping to prevent other kids’ faces from showing.
Alex, the sultan! And little Mark (in a black tank top!!-haha) in the background.
Our little guard-dancer.
They did an amazing job!!! And the funny part is that it seemed that Katya didn’t have to be acting too much—her sassy attitude came naturally.
“I can show you the world” duet was awesome. Alladin is played by a girl (apparently we didn’t have enough boys who wanted to be Alladin?). Katya has such a beautiful voice! I love listening to her. Hope she keeps singing!
And here is funny Mark again.
We were so proud of them all! So great to see your kids succeed and have fun while doing it. They LOVE the stage. Even Mark does. It’s so funny.
Not one line forgotten! And they had A LOT to memorize.
Our cute boys.
Well done!
I know next year they will hope to do this again.
Lyana.
