Friends, Food, Fun

It is 8:30 pm here. Robert went for a run. It’s hot and humid, although it’s after dark. We have only one standing fan left since I’ve been selling all our appliances, so it is indeed hot inside. The house is almost completely empty except our suitcases are here, our borrowed military furniture and dishes. We are going to stuff our family into three big suitcases and three big carry-on small suitcases and will head out on probably the longest and biggest travel adventure for our family so far:).
I will probably not be able to blog as often in the next month, although I will be drowning in stories and pictures, I am sure.

Let me tell you about our past couple of weeks. We have been busy doing fun things, actually. Although moving is stressful, I don’t think we are really stressed at this point. All we’ve got to do is clean our house (which is actually not that dirty) on Friday (Alex’s birthday) and then move into the base hotel. After that we’ll have five four full days to hang out and do last minute things in Misawa.
So back to the past weeks…. we have gone out a lot with our friends. First we went to Kiku Zushi with the Glaziers. That place is my favorite place for tempura!

This is my shrimp tempura (shrimp fried in really light flakes) and rice! Oh, so good!

Robert was more adventurous and ordered sushi with vegetable tempura. Yum! But he still doesn’t like wasabi.

“Which one of her shrimps can I steal?”.

I ordered scallops too. They were huge! And they were $5 a piece.

Hanging out with the Glaziers is never boring-haha. Helping Jeana pick something from the menu that is not seafood was fun as well. Great food and great conversation! Getting this picture on a timer is an experience in itself.

We will miss you, Glaziers!!!

A few days later, we got to go out with our friends, the Millburns. For our date, we decided to go to a vegetable market.

No, not really. But we did go to the Shimoda mall after our failed attempt #2 (that’s another blog post) to go to the Koiwai (?) Green Farm restaurant.  We ended up going to Papa Geno’s, a buffet style mixture of all sorts of foods. We loved it!! No food pictures here, we were too busy (and super hungry) sampling all the yummy food.
Here are the Marvelous Millburns.

Oh, how we’ll miss you, friends! The last two years have been fantastic because you were living practically next door. You have made Misawa a fabulous place to live. We’ll remember you all forever.
