Welcome to Saint Lucia!!! The capital is Castries.
On this day, we had booked a FULL day tour with Cosol Tours. They were going to pick us up at 8:30 am and take us around the island and out on a boat.
Ready for our adventure! Look how awesome our beautiful ship looks!
We got a nice look around the island from the window.
First, we stopped at a banana plantation.
We learned all sorts of fun facts and useful information about growing bananas, but even if my life were at stake right now, I can't tell you one detail that they talked about.
This is us, still at the beginning of the day, before the day got long, hot and...kind of car sick.
We were headed towards a scenic town of Soufriere.
We had a chance to make a few picturesque stops to get beautiful scenic pictures.
Alex and Mark enjoying the perks of being the only kids at home.
One of the stops was the place where we had a home cooked lunch.
This is a view of the fishing village of Soufriere.
And the view of the Piton mountains, a World Heritage Site. It's a symbol of St. Lucia as they are one of the most recognizable landmarks in the Caribbean. They are around 2500 ft tall and are old volcanic forest covered plugs rising high out of the sea (according to Cosol Tours).
We managed to snap a picture of us with the background although it was starting to rain a bit.
Oh, but we didn't just ride around on a bus! We got to visit the Surlphur Springs Mud Bath!
This famous black water pool is located outside, it's about 4 ft deep. You submerge your body and enjoy the medicinal powers of this black water. You can also have some fun with the mud!
Trust me, it was not so easy to wash it off especially when the outside showers were barely trickling and we had to literally scrub each other to get this mud off-haha.
We did end up going to the waterfalls too!!! So the boys got wet once again anyway.
Lots of pictures in swimsuits to show off our "tan".
The final part of the adventure was to take a boat to take us to the Sugar Beach, located between the Pitons.
The colors of the beach were beautiful! The water was calm and warm.
Our group was able to do a bunch of snorkeling here while I enjoyed just swimming around on the beach.
After this, we headed back to the port. The drive was definitely very long and tiring but we did manage to arrive back to the port before the ship left which was a plus-haha. We saw a couple of groups of people running madly as the ship was about to leave without them. This was a fantastic stop--a beautiful island with luscious natural backdrop and nice people. I am glad we took a day long tour here. I could definitely see us exploring it even more next time someday.
To Be Continued...
