Oh, Sunny Spain! Sunday Afternoon In Cadiz.

Our friends live really close to the beautiful city of Cadiz. On Sunday, we went to church together, had a fun potluck lunch/dinner with their ward members and drove to Cadiz (about 30 minutes). It was a very windy day (or maybe just a bad hair day for me).

Cadiz is the oldest continuously inhabited city in Spain and is one of the oldest in western Europe.

It boasts a very nice sea promenade with the views of Africa on a clear day. It's also one of the popular stops for cruise ships, so it definitely gets busy in the warmer months.

We walked along the seaside, letting kids play a bit. Construction in town was a bit crazy and many regular roads were closed, thus making it more difficult for us to go see the central part of Cadiz with the beautiful Mosque.

Instead we kept walking till we got to the famous Cadiz fort. The city was destroyed in the late 1600s after English Sir Francis Drake attacked the harbor. Well, the English did it a few times, but that battle in 1596 was most devastating. So Cadiz people decided that they needed a much better fortification for their city and built a huge fort.

The tide was low so kids could hop on rocks as we walked on the man made walkway towards the fort. Katya managed to push Alex into the water who didn't have a fun time walking in his wet socks after that.

The view of Cadiz from the fort.

All kids together! Another "I can't open my eyes it's so sunny" picture.

Cadiz was beautiful-typical Andalusian city on the beach. Wish we had more time to explore it.

Lyana.
