New Zealand: Trip of a Lifetime-HOW We Did It

I mentioned in my first New Zealand post that I had to learn how to play the credit card game to be able to take our whole family to New Zealand using only $500 in cash for the plane tickets. There was a lot to learn and digest but I am happy to say I am probably on an intermediate level of the game, although there is still so much I don't know.
United airlines partners with Air New Zealand, and Chase Ultimate Rewards transfer to United. That's the trick.

On the way back, we felt SO fancy! Even the kids got upgraded to Premium Economy because of my status match. Having all the nice food, comfortable seats--it was incredible! I could go for 15 hours if necessary in a set up like that. That's Robert and I in the United Business Class.

Robert is happy that someone has done all the legwork weeding through a ton of information on how to play the credit card game and now he can benefit from that-haha. The truth is, I need him as my Player 2, so we have a symbiotic relationship-hahaha.

And that's me...proudly reading the menu for our long flight, looking forward to the shower at the United Polaris lounge upon landing in San Francisco.

Lastly, if you would like to know ALL the details about how we booked our trip and what points we used, here is a published blog article written by me (edited by the blogger) from one of my favorite resources--Katie's Travel Tricks.  Reader Success Story: New Zealand on Points for a Family - Katie's Travel Tricks. Check it out!

And for our family memory--I now have an Instagram account called @matchpointtravel. Yay! It has over 100 followers now!

Grateful for the opportunities to travel and looking forward to many more adventures!

Lyana.
