Every year our village school gives an opportunity to all children to perform at the Christmas concert. Because there are two classes for each grade in Key Stage 2 (that's 2nd-5th grade), "A" classes had a separate concert from "B" classes. Alex is in the oldest class-6 B. Their assignment was to wear a winter hat and a scarf. It was almost funny that we found a Ukrainian scarf and an American hat.
Lots of singing and story telling.
Alex is a great little narrator who is clear to understand and fun to listen to. I think Alex finally figured out that his American accent belongs to him and he doesn't need to try to speak like a British kid:)
He is always so proud to show his heritage.
Alex also was performed later with the school choir and orchestra to show parents what they had been working on since September. It's AMAZING that a hundred children come to choir every week at 8:30 am (before school) and they love it! Their favorite thing to do is to sing their annual Pop Medley. Wish I could post the video of them singing but I don't want to break any privacy laws. This was also the first year that Alex played the trumpet in the orchestra. For the last two years he was a keyboard guy and said it wasn't as fun. He's been taking trumpet lessons for half a year now and hopefully is getting better:).
Moving on...
Mark's class (Year 2 A) together with the other Year 2 class and Year 1 classes prepared a Wriggly Nativity. Mark was an angel. He did great on his part and didn't skip a beat.
FINALLY.
Katya has been taking choir for the last four months. It's a small choir here at RAF Alconbury but she says she is learning a lot. She still loves to sing solos but this is a good practice for her to learn to perform as a team.
She did a solo part in "Mary Did You Know?" and did very well.
We are very blessed parents indeed to be able to see our children shine and perform. They love it and we love it. Hope that through the years they will continue supporting each other at each event/performance/concert/competition and so on as it is so important:).
Lyana.
