3 May 2014. One dad and 3 children to Legoland (Windsor – yup, the one in England). B1G1 coupon from Rice Krispies. Fine print (not actually on the coupon) says can’t do it with 1:3 adult to kid ratio. Ticket office guy was awesome and gave us a free ticket on the spot. In the end pay for two children and all four get tickets. Very cool. Still expensive. Who’s counting?
Kids excited? Very. Didn’t take many pictures but you get the idea.
Yeah, went all out and got KID’S MEALS!! (with Fanta – don’t tell mom)
Not sure how to tell this since I didn’t take many photos. I was having so much fun ENJOYING the experience that I didn’t have time to DOCUMENT every movement. So for your reading pleasure (or disdain, whichever you choose) here’s the run down of attractions in no particular order.
Miniland – we walked through this miniature Lego world in transit only. No time to gawk at this amazing, yet nonparticipatory attraction. Too many rides to go to.
Space Tower – you only get to the top if you pull yourself up. Amazing views of the park.
Raft River Racers – we did this toward the end of the day which meant we didn’t have much time to dry off. It’s a waterslide but you ride down in pairs on a rubber raft. Our seats were soaked.
Pirates of Skeleton Bay – fun show where pirates jump off a lighthouse into the water. Kids favorite part: the popcorn bucket I bought for them to share. I said share!
Atlantis Submarine Voyage – typical glass bottom boat-type thingie with flashing lights and lego Atlantis.
SQUID Surfer – strangely fun. Stand-up riding in a “boat” being swung in a circle. Centripetal force is AWESOME!!
Dino Safari – slow plastic jeep and lego dinosaurs. Need I say more.
Thunder Blazer – sounds epic. It was the swings.
Jolly Rocker – The pirate boat that swings forward and backward and forward and backward. Really, that’s all it does. As a child I remember this ride at the carnival and I did not like it. I am happy to say I’ve changed my chanty, er, tune. You know that free-fall feeling when you get to the top of the swing? Then the sudden drop afterward? It’s oddly addictive. Not just for me but the kids too. We went on this ride first, and the rest of the day the kids just wanted to go back. We eventually made it back here and went on it again . . . and again . . . and again. Maybe even again, but I can’t remember now. I do know the seat was wet afterward. No, not that. It’s because my trousers hadn’t dried out yet from the water rides.
Pirate Falls Treasure Quest – Yup, a water ride. More specifically a flume ride. You know, the log thing where you go down the waterfall. We did this one a few times too, and though not as epic as Splash Mountain, at least on this one we actually got wet.
The Dragon – Castle + roller coaster. Good ride but long line, though thankfully it was toward the beginning of the day so lines weren’t too bad yet.
Vikings River Splash – Another wet ride. Seriously, why didn’t we wear shorts? This was insane. We literally almost got thrown out of the rafts as it crashed into the walls. And we got soaked. And we rode it twice.
And here’s a map because you were curious.
BLAZING THUNDER!!!! PREPARE YOURSELVES FOR SOMETHING EPIC TO HAPPEN!!
Alex and Katya feeling the epicness. No, that is not Mark in the hoodie. That’s a Star Wars fan.
That’s Mark.
Somehow Alex and Katya not yet feeling the epicness (little Star Wars guy is though).
And Mark is too (almost missed him).
Tato, that was so Epic!!! Can we do it again?!!
Mark is Lego Poseidon.
And here is the authentic Lego submarine that we did not in fact get to ride in.
Slow plastic jeep aforementioned.
Large Lego explorer (did not make her [or his] acquaintance because we were instructed to stay seated in the slow plastic jeep).
Did not even consider leaving the safety of the slow plastic jeep and sped by this dangerous lego creation as quickly as the conveyor belt would go.
Not dangerous. Plant eater.
Also not dangerous, though don’t know what happened to that guy on its head after we drove off.
Probably dangerous. If you’re a fly. And made of Legos.
Seriously, another picture of Lego dinosaur?
And what is that supposed to be?
If you haven’t figured out by now, Katya had the camera in the slow plastic jeep in front of me which explains the plethora of pictures of Lego dinos. I didn’t even show them all to you.
There was even a zoo at Legoland!
Oh, wait. The animals were made of Legos too.
Remember the date we went? 3 May. That was a Saturday, and the next day of course would be . . . 4 May, otherwise known as May the fourth or rather, may the force be with you. Yeah, Star Wars day!! So of course who was traipsing around Legoland all day? Everyone from Star Wars!!
Bounty Hunters.
Death Star people (what are they called again?)
Darth Vader in the flesh, or not . . . I think.
Storm Troopers!
Ewok.
Oh, I forgot. I did take pictures of Miniland. Yup all made of Legos. Took a few days I imagine.
Look closely. Lego Darth Vader’s in there somewhere.
Yeah, that’s it. I’m stopping now. Lyana is wondering why it’s such a long post. Well, it’s because we had such a great day!! Me and the kids. Just them and me. And Darth Vader. And a gajillion Brits, it was so crazy crowded.
