As if we needed more excitement in our life, our whole family decided to take part in the base’s Color Run, a run that is not a race but a crazy, messy, fun run. Basically, while you run your distance, you have people standing at certain points of your route who throw colored powder on you. That way you cross the finish line looking like THIS (this is Alex’s happy face):
We had a few different distances going at this run. You could run as little as one mile or as much as 5K (3 miles). Robert helped Mark run a whole mile! We stood at the sidelines and cheered with all our neighbors. So every time Mark was passing us he would sprint by us as if it was a breeze for him, but then on the other side of the track, he’d be telling Robert how tired he was.
The rest of us wanted to do a 5K. Katya jogged with her friends, and still completed the race. Robert just took off at the start line and I never saw him again until after my finish. Then Alex and I stuck together as it was Alex’s first time to run such a long distance and I wanted him to finish it all. He did a fantastic job! We walked a little and jogged and ran. And he did not whine at all. On our last kilometer, I quizzed him on capitals of the world to distract him from his tiredness. And it worked!
That’s me, getting more and more colorful.
We all made it! Alex continued to get messier and more colorful rolling around in powder.
Then we waited for Katya and her girls to arrive.
Oh so messy but so fun!
All three kids loved it so much that they want to do it again for sure. Great family fun!
