Our suitcases are packed. Snacks are ready. Trash is taken out and the fridge is clean. We are ready to get on the plane this evening and fly to New Delhi, India. Who would have ever thought we’d be going to India???
Today, while I was getting last minute things ready my thoughts were overwhelmed with memories of my sister. Although she is my only sister, I actually got to live with her only for four years before I left for the US. This is my mom and my sister, the day of my departure to the states as a foreign exchange student. My sister is four years old.
After started BYU, I came to visit my family a couple of times. So all I got was glimpses of my sister’s childhood… Here is my sister and I when she was six and a half (and I am eighteen).
And here she is seven years old, saying good bye to me at the train station in Lviv. My whole family together before I got married (I didn’t know yet that I was going to get married three months after that…).
I am sad I missed my sister’s growing up.
I missed her first days of school, her first dance recitals, piano recitals, graduation and so much more!!!
In my mind, she will always stay this little chubby marshmallow.
But most of all, I regret the fact that she and my dad were not able to come to my wedding in the states.
Therefore, I was determined that my kids, Robert and I are not going to miss hers, despite the fact that it’s on the other side of the world!
Lyena and Saumya, we are coming!!!
Have a safe flight!! Can't wait to hear about the adventures ! xx
