It is official!
My little sister, Lyena, is getting married!
Well, actually, she is a married woman as of today, October 14th, since their “official” marriage part happened today. But they are not recognized as a married couple just yet according to Indian tradition—they have to wait till their wedding ceremony that will happen on February 14th.
Oh, I feel like I have skipped too much….
Okay.
That evening when this picture was taken…
on the subway coming back from London to the parking lot where I left our car, we met a great family from Calcutta, India. More specifically, my Lyena met Saumya, the guy in the picture at the beginning. Fast forward through their day with London together, hundreds of hours of Skype conversations, five days in Istanbul…and they are engaged (well, and married “sort of”)! This all came as a big surprise to all of us, of course, but we are very happy for Lyena and excited for such a new part of her life!
She and my mom are in India as we speak, visiting Saumya’s family. They will be back in Ukraine in a week. Then they will go back to India for the grand wedding ceremony. So my sister is moving to India.
Guess who else gets to go to India in February??? Me!! And Robert and the kids—the whole clan!
I will keep you posted. Yes, I am sure we’ll blog all about our trip.
Congratulations, Lyena and Saumya!!!
Oh Lyana...how exciting for all of you! Lyena is so beautiful, I remember seeing her when you were living here! Oh my goodness, tell me all about India when you come back :D
