Saying Good Bye

August 1st, 2012 9:00 am Japan time. Our flight to Tokyo was leaving at 9:55 am. We were ready. Or so we thought until our friends showed up. And not just one or two family! So many of my good friends came to say good bye!  Just look at that!

Wish their husbands were there as well. Oh, you all made us feel so special!!!
And look at this! Such a sweet picture…makes me cry just thinking about leaving these good friends behind.

Then Katya took over the camera and took a few pictures of some of her friends.
Good bye, Abbie.

I promised myself I wouldn’t cry saying good bye to my friends. Yeah…that didn’t happen. Too difficult. Too difficult to leave them behind and sort of leave a part of my heart with them too. I will miss them dearly and think of them often. This particular part of military life is the hardest. I just have to remind myself that the part about making great friends for life is the great part of military life.

And we were off on our new adventures. Watson family of five with four suitcases, two carry on suitcases, one backpack, one car seat and two booster seats (thank goodness big kids can use backless booster seats now) and an umbrella stroller arrived to Tokyo (when you are moving overseas with kids, this is considered packing light).

We had to transfer from Haneda airport to Narita airport one last time. Everything seemed soooo easy this time around. We were pros.  c
At Haneda airport
We had to wait for six hours for our flights once we got to Narita. We found this great place in the middle of the waiting area—it had plug-in outlets and big chairs/couches to lie down. Kids did great.
Waiting for our flight to Honolulu-Narita airport
Finally, at 7 pm we boarded the plane. The kids were super excited for the long flight. Mark just wanted to play with his Japan Airlines airplane.

And we were off. Next stop—Honolulu, Hawaii!!!!!

  1. Missing you guys. By the way Lyana, since we never released you can you continue to add the hymns to the sacrament agenda on google docs?

  2. Just kidding (about the hymns part, not about missing you guys).
