I had an amazing Mother’s Day this year:) We actually celebrated it on Saturday because I had to be at the church on Sunday before 8 am….so no breakfast in bed for sure.
It all started on Friday. I received a postcard via email from Katya-haha. She sent it from school! This is what it said:
Mom, I love you! Happy Mother’s Day!To: Lyana
From: Katya
Sometimes we get in fights, but I still Love you!!! Anyways, like you always say, I love you too much to argue.
P.S you are very PPPRRREEETTTYYY!!!!!!!!!
Wow…she sounds so mature, right?:) She is quite a troublemaker. Unfortunately, she came home crying that day because she was very upset at herself for messing up the date that the card was to be sent. She wanted it to be a surprise on Sunday.
Then on Friday night, Robert said I needed to go upstairs and don’t wait up for him. He told me timing is essential in what he was doing (still not sure what he meant, but I was full of anticipation). I think he stayed downstairs till 1 am…
In the morning, after being woken up at 6:30 am by Mark, I went back to sleep and Robert took the kids downstairs. I slept in till 8 am—Katya came up to wake me up telling me that I have to go downstairs and solve a puzzle. Of course! Robert is an expert on scavenger hunts and puzzles (just ask him about how he proposed to me)!
1. Sometimes you have to shut out the noise from the kitchen
2. Sit and enjoy some music for a while
3. Arrgh! Where be me treasure ye scurvy sailors?
4. The quicker, thicker picker upper
5. Go AROUND the world
6. She’s got a heavy head
7. Just before Katya was born
8. Heavy head girl’s got a boyfriend
9. Little boy blue . . .
10. Two dragon heads coming out the side
11. It weighs exactly 0.01oz (I checked)
12. Blueberry, chocolate chip -- I’ve tried them all
13. Source of blue water
14. You even look good in black and white
15. Have you spent all of yours?
It took me probably 20 minutes or so to find them all—Katya helped me a ton. For example, that last one, I totally thought it was something about the money. So I looked in my purse and wallet. Then Katya guessed it was somewhere by the decorative brick we have on our shelf “Spend all of your kisses”. She was right! I would have never figured that one out.
When I put all the puzzle pieces together, I got instructions on where the final present was. And the final gift was a framed picture made up of tiny pictures of us, kids, family from the last year. How creative!
Oh yes, and I cannot forget to tell you about an edible bouquet that Robert prepared. Chocolate covered strawberries, pineapple cut into flower shapes and gigantic grapes is what he used for his masterpiece-haha. Pictures will have to wait since I am in the middle of packing.
Isn’t this so thoughtful? I couldn’t ask for a more caring husband. It makes me very happy that he makes big deals about special days like this.
I want to wish my mom a very happy Mother’s Day! She has done so much for me through all these years. She is an amazing, thoughtful and wise mom. I better tell her that in Ukrainian though:)
Finally, I cannot forget to wish a Happy Mother’s Day to my mother-in-law:) Thank you for being such a good mom to Robert and raising him to be such a good man. I am sure my mom thanks you for that as well:)
Happy Mother’s Day!
