Mark has been really enjoying his 9th grade at Crossroads Flex HS. He has to be present in person at school for only 10 hours a week, has real teachers for a few of his classes and just a few kids in each class. The school tries really hard to create a "normal" high school environment too, particularly by hosting a number of traditional events and opportunities for kids.
In November, when Mark miraculously had no tournaments scheduled, the school had organized a small Homecoming Dance. It's amazing to see the difference between this school and our Apex Friendship HS. Alex could hardly ever get tickets for the school dances as they just sold out too quickly. And here Mark, a mere 9th grader, had no problem getting tickets.
Mark wasn't really planning on going to the dance originally, but then his two tennis friends girls--Dani and Gabi--convinced him to go all together. They both are a year older than him but know him well through tennis training.
I rarely get permission from Mark to take dozens of posed pictures of him, so this post is going to be pretty much dedicated to my opportunity to do so!
Mark is just a month shy of being 15 on these pictures.
Finally, I found a suit that fit him in length, but just for a few months, sadly...
Mark, the model.
Our backyard in November turns out to be quite a nice backdrop.
And the last one.
I dropped Mark off at Dani's house and from there they went to dinner at a place near their school.
These pictures are not of the best quality, unfortunately, but, nevertheless, we are grateful we have them!
They did have fun at the dance, although Mark said the dance was quite small and that he preferred our stake dances. We are glad he did go though and had this "traditional" high school experience.
Lyana.
