THIS is what luck looks like!
After we arrived to our "villa" in the woods, we got situated and grabbed some groceries from the village store. Then we met up with our private guide at 7 pm for a snowshoeing journey.
We got fitted for snowshoes and taught how to walk in them.
I was a bit worried about my knee with no ACL so took it pretty easy. But it was ok! I definitely look interesting on this pictures, but whatever-haha.
We had a route with some deep snow and some hills and trails.
Shortly after we walked through the woods into a clearing, we started noticing the Northern Lights!!!
I say WE but for real...this is what's weird...my eyes somehow were seeing only bleak pale green streaks in the sky, a little bit. But to everyone else, they looked super bright! Like the pictures!
So I had to take a lot of pictures to see the Northern Lights for myself-hahaha.
They were gorgeous!!!
The lights didn't just last a minute or two. They kept going and going lighting up the sky.
The green was taking all sorts of shapes...it was incredible!
Look at this! Surreal!
And this was taken with just a regular iPhone.
Our guide was super impressed too although she is from Finland. She said we were so fortunate that we got to see them and that they were lasting for so long. When we got home to our village, the light show was still happening after everyone went to bed. Around midnight, it was so dark...so I took a bunch of pictures from our porch.
They were exactly what I imagined they would look like (through my phone) and more!
Spoiler Alert: For the rest of the trip we did not see Aurora Borealis again.
