Our amazing, sweet, brave and extraordinary Katya is now an adult! She turned EIGHTEEN this July. Can we believe it??? NO!
We gave Katya a bunch of options about celebrating her birthday--big or small, friends or family--after all you only turn 18 once. But she decided that she wanted to keep her celebrations pretty low key. I'd say she had multiple parts to her celebrations--some with her family and some with friends.
On Katya's birthday we went out to eat for lunch. In fact, I don't know how but Robert had a day off that day miraculously.
This picture just had to sneak in here to remind Katya how goofy her tato is.
We also didn't expect Katya to choose to go to a Mexican place in Downtown Apex for her birthday lunch. Nevertheless, we were happy to keep it casual but the restaurant made it super duper special!!! I mean, that's an awesome birthday plate!!!

Later that day we had some "cake"...as Katya doesn't like cake she had brownies.
Wow...we are quite a colorful group. So funny! Mark wearing his pajamas and Alex in a vizor-haha.
Katya got a few presents as you can see, but the biggest one was a new MacBook for college. And fancy airpods. And chocolate covered almonds.
Oh look! Who is THIS? Oh, it's just Tyler, Katya's friend (who is serving a mission in Ghana at the moment of writing this).
What can I say? We have raised an amazing human! She is the one who made us parents, showed us how strong unconditional love can be and helped us see the world with different eyes. She is our trailblazer and experiment of sorts, patience teacher and amazement creator, the greatest spark of joy and a cozy blanket buddy (with a hot water bottle added). Looking back at her exciting eighteen years, I see so many adventures, transitions, adjustments and learning opportunities! And now, she has so much to look forward to! Happy 18th birthday, sweet KATYA! We love you so much!
