Well...it’s taking me just six months to finally write about my kid’s birthday.
Woohoo!!! Katya turned 17 this year!
Katya’s birthday started with fancy crepes and Nutella. She had to get up ultra early to be at work by 7:30 (working at Robert’s dental clinic).
And as she came out to the van she discovered that her car was “decorated”! 😂 And! That it had been so humid overnight that the marker/paint kind of melted away. So she said she had a pretty embarrassing 10 minute drive to work-hahaha.
She has really grown up this past year--organizing her days, driving all over on her own, helping me with running errands and planning her future.
This year Katya was all about skincare, fashion and Brown Brittle-haha.
She had been asking for these shoes for months...
Well, actually, one thing that stood out was this present from Mark--another cactus. It’s hilarious, because he gave her a cactus last year as well.
Hopefully, this cactus will survive.
And the whole family!
We had limited choices of where to go out for dinner, although it was July already. Carrabba’s is where Katya decided to go--and it turned out to be simple and yummy (with a ton of bread for the kids, of course).
After dinner we headed home but we had a surprise in store.
We had to take pictures outside, drag our feet and make sure Katya was outside.
Because! Katya’s friend, Sophie, had arranged a birthday parade--a bunch of friends who were going to drive by our house to wish Katya a happy birthday.
Katya knew something was a bit fishy, but played along-haha.
We all remember what it was like SEVENTEEN! Oh so fun! Katya with her famous Clifford, the red minivan.
And then suddenly, a line of cars started going down our neighborhood street. What a crazy year! And a different way to celebrate a birthday!
These were friends that Katya hadn’t seen for months in person... and it was very special.
As her cake, Katya wanted cinnamon rolls (I know...getting really creative here over the years). So I picked up five gigantic cinnamon rolls from Cinnaholic and that was our fancy cake.
Katya is so easy to celebrate and love. She is radiant and energetic, lighting up the room as she walks in. She is full of goodness and such great hopes and goals. We love her and want to cherish each moment she has living with us before she leaves for college (and oh yes, she is so excited to leave).
