Singing away!

This year’s spring semester was the first time both of our kids were in choir. Katya decided to take advanced choir her junior year, fall semester, and Alex joined her trying choir for spring semester. Surprisingly, both of them have been really enjoying being part of it (until coronavirus cancelled school).

The day before all field trips and school events were cancelled, our kids were able to go to Meredith College for MPA (Music Performance Assessment). Out of the 80+ schools that attended, their high school was 1 of only 3 that received Superior ratings for all 4 choir sections: Mens Chorus Advanced,
Women's Chorus advanced, Mixed Chorus advanced, and Women's Beginning Chorus. And that is amazing! Their teacher Ms. Gustely, a young lady in the middle inspires these kids every day.

I love that the kids enjoy singing!

Advanced chorus.

Just for fun, Katya’s good friend Cameron (now boyfriend) joined choir for his last semester of high school. They were so excited to be going to New Orleans at the end of March for their huge choir field trip...but, of course, it was cancelled as well.

Here are Alex, Cannon (the kids’ friend from church) and Cameron, all dressed up in their nice tuxedoes...bought specifically for choir (although it’s possible they might not have any concerts to wear them to besides this after all).

Alex, Katya, Cameron and Cannon.

Both of the kids already signed up for choir for next school year! Should be fun:)
