Alex's 13th Birthday Celebration

Alex's birthday was celebrated over the course of a couple of weeks this year. We decided to organize a swimming party for him and his friends for Monday (Robert's day off) ten days before his birthday. He had at least twenty people we invited and fifteen of them came! I didn't mind as we just pretty much did it all outside by the pool with games, music, dancing and food.

Alex requested AGAIN and American flag cake from Costco....we'll never know why.

And he was very happy that so many of his friends could make it! A few of them were staying at his old middle school and a few of them were moving to the newly built one, plus one of his best friends was moving to Utah.

The party was a great success and Alex was very grateful that so many people came and it turned out so fun!

The day before we left for Montana, Alex opened his gifts. Purple, rowing and books were a big theme. His main gift was his new "old" iPhone. We had to switch to T-Mobile to get a better price for four family members and unlimited data. It's kind of funny to see Alex figure out how to text and call people;)

For now Alex really enjoys rowing, so we capitalize on that!

Well, then on July 24th we flew out on our Utah-Idaho-Montana trip and landed in Rexburg, ID for Alex's birthday. He was actually very excited as so many of his extended family members were there to celebrate! Here is a picture to show how tall he is getting. Last year he was my height, but I believe he is almost 5'11'' now.

We sang to Alex and ate a delicious cake as part of our family reunion.
Bentley and Carter are intently checking out the candle lighting process.

Alex is a such a confident kid, especially at this age when some tend to be unsure in themselves! He is kind hearted and truly tries to make the right choice at school and at church. He is kind of crazy and weird according to his siblings and it bugs them that he always wants to talk to everyone--mostly because he is not shy. He is finishing middle school this year so I tell him to keep enjoying this last year of not much homework and no early morning waking up for seminary:) He is friends with many boys AND girls of his age at church and many girls appreciate his  easy going manner of talking to them. Alex still loves to read books, play "wars" with his dominoes and watch Fortnite videos since he can't play it at home;). To relax he also sits down and plays the piano very often! Can't wait to see what he does in the future:)

And here are the updates for our 13 year old Alex:

Height: 5'10.5''
Favorite Sport: Rowing
Favorite Book: Hunger Games
Favorite Movie right now: Hunger Games
Favorite Color: Purple
Hobby: Playing the piano and singing

Lyana.
