Alex, The Rapper?

Sadly, we don't get out much from our routine life of school/work/after school activities. I know there is a ton going on in the area but we seem to be occupied with the tournaments or kids' activities or taking care of the house projects. We are determined to do better this summer and the solution to success is PLANNING! I just don't plan enough Saturday activities like I used to in Europe and Japan. Need to fix that.

Anyway😁😏

Once in a while, Alex participates in the Open Mic organized by Rissi Palmer. She is the one who recommended Alex to our local TV and Radio station WRAL, so they contacted us and had Alex come record one of his songs before Christmas. You can read (and listen) about it here: Alex at Imurj for WRAL. Alex in the middle of his "voices", so he is trying to find his comfortable range.

Then in March, Alex surprised us all at the Open Mic once again. He performed his first piece--an arrangement of songs from The Greatest Showman and, of course, it was all very cool and everything, but we had anticipated it...oh you know...Alex just performing one of his arrangements. 😂😜

And THEN!!

He gets onto the stage once again as they allowed them to play multiple pieces and starts rapping and playing the piano the song from Hamilton musical. So I personally do not like rap. I don't like when he practices it and I don't like to listen to it, although I do realize you've got to have skills to do it right. No one in our family expected that he would actually perform this song on stage, so we were all kind of sitting there with our mouths open, not really believing that this is our Alex, totally getting into the song and being a showman of his own kind. Judge for yourself. I hope the video works, although I know you might have to go to the blog website to actually be able to listen through the link below.  So just in case, here is a link in this form: Alex Watson Performs Alexander Hamilton. It starts out slow but gets more and more intense.

And that is all for now from Alex. He and Katya are working on their next project--an open mic at one of the Raleigh pubs where it's actually a competition. I'll keep you updated;).
