Using Talent To Serve

Katya's friend, Geoffrey, and Katya had a bucket list of summer things to do and one of them was to organize a performance for the people at a retirement home. I helped them find a place that needed some TLC--Chatham Commons in Cary. Geoffrey and Katya prepared a few songs that Katya could sing and he could play, then Geoffrey played some solo pieces on the piano. Alex sang a song and played the piano, Geoffrey's brother and Mark each played the piano as well. Plus Katya sang one of her favorites--"Riptide " and played on the ukulele.

We will never know how much these senior citizens heard or if they will remember this event, but our kids definitely will. It was so good to see how their music made some people happy and how much service matters. The administrators of the assisted living center were most grateful for our performance and hoped we could make it a regular event. It's something that seems so insignificant to execute but that makes a lasting effect on people.
