Happy New 2016!

New Year's is not the main holiday of the season in the UK (or US), it is clear. I can't tell you how many of people I know, don't really care about staying up till midnight to meet the New Year. It's still crazy to me:). BUT I must be getting used to that idea because although we stay up with Robert, we don't really do a big party or go out to celebrate like we did growing up.

This year we joined a few of our church friends for some games, treats and fireworks at the church till 9:30 pm. Then we came home and watched some more TV, letting the kids stay up very late (even Mark). Programs shown on the UK TV channels are not that great for this special night, not like the ones in Ukraine that I had in my childhood:). But the fireworks at Big Ben in London are totally worth staying up for. They last fifteen minutes and are still impressive even from the comfort of our home. Sometimes we wish we were right there in London, watching them live, and then we remember crowds and crowds of people, freezing cold and tube queues to get home, and we quickly kick away the thought.

This year will be another huge year for us. A year of changes and adjustments. Are we ready? To be honest, we are still trying to not think about it. I know when the time comes and our stuff is all shipped back to the states, we'll be ready to just move on. For now--we are still living in the moment and England is still our home.

Happy New Year!
