Winter Piano Recital--2011

We just got home from a wonderful evening. Ms. Bridget’s students had their piano recital—Katya was one of them. She performed two pieces “Carol of the Bells” (famous Ukrainian carol, by the way) and Sonatina by Robert Vandall (composer is actually still living).

And here is the video of the performance itself, for those who are interested.  As always Katya shows no fear.

I am so proud of her! She has made such great progress this year thanks to simply believing in herself (and Ms. Bridget’s encouragement). This year, Katya actually enjoys playing the piano most of the time. She comes home from lessons and starts playing right away with great enthusiasm. I wish she had an opportunity to practice without anyone else being distracting in the room…kind of hard when other kids are playing in the same room. I am hoping that she will stay as excited about playing as she is right now and will not be discouraged when she has to learn pieces that are a bit of a stretch for her.
