It's been exactly 3 weeks since the tsunami. We headed down to Hachinohe, the city just to our south, and captured this footage. For those who know this area, we were approaching Kabushima island (the seagull place blogged about last April).
Just saw this video. I heard from a couple different sources that the Kabushima shrine and torii gate were washed away in the tsunami. By your video, it doesn't look like they were! Could you confirm this? Thanks!
Shannon, sorry it took me forever to reply to your comment. No, the shrine and torri gate are still there. It's located on a hill, so nothing was damaged. The area around it--the public bathroom, benches, etc. at the bottom of the stairs to the shrine were damaged. It's still beautiful out there.
